Southfield is a purpose-built primary school for children with moderate learning difficulties. We cater for children in the age range 4 to 11 years and have 75 places.
Our children are taught the full range of National Curriculum subjects but in smaller class groups and at a pace more suited to their needs. We place a strong emphasis on letting the children know they can succeed and that we value individual achievement.
As a partnership of children, parents, staff, governors and the wider community, we aim to develop Southfield as a successful school which ensures that all the children have every opportunity to succeed.
We provide a welcoming and stimulating environment in which the children are happy and eager to learn.
We aim to give children the experience of school as a caring, supportive community where there is equal provision for all, so that they can develop a positive attitude towards others. It is our intention to give each child access to a broad and balanced curriculum which is relevant to their needs and where learning is a positive and enjoyable experience.
We help our children to acquire knowledge and practical abilities which they will need in their secondary education.
We expect our children to have high standards of behaviour and to develop a respectful and caring attitude towards the other people in the school.
We help our children to develop a respect for religious and moral values, and a tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life.
We want our children to develop a concern for the environment and an understanding of the world in which they live.
