‘This is my professional development – the sessions replenish me’
‘Great to network and share with other leaders and feel supported.’
Learning forums for Headteachers and Deputies are held every half term to support leaders in becoming more evidence based in their practice and helping participants to make more informed decisions.
We aim to achieve this through increasing our knowledge and understanding of:
a) effective leadership, pedagogy and professional development
b) strategies to make our schools research informed
Great emphasis is placed on discussing our practice and reflecting on the pertinent research and also keeping ourselves up to date with relevant publications and education news.
The discussions leads to productive networking which extends beyond the sessions.
In the past year the sessions have focussed on a range of topics including: the importance of communicating our vision; case-studies of other leaders and how they have driven change in their schools; updates related to Ofsted inspections; case-studies of successful pupil premium funding ‘practice’; presentation of school based research related to surface and deep learning; Maths mastery; reciprocal reading; assessment beyond levels; the importance of building trust and strategies for creating trust within a school and updates from the Education Endowment Fund.
These sessions continue to be popular.
